The Van Den Hul The Orchid RCA is our first audio interconnect cable that uses our newly developed “Tunnel Technology”. A sleek combination of physical concepts that counteract the signal level and frequency dependent behavior of electrical signal transmission in cables.
The underlying philosophy of our tunnel technology is that the longer the distance – and the better – the path along which the signal-carrying vibrations and their related electromagnetic waves can flow unhindered in an audio cable, the less interference there is to the signal and sound.
As a result of the applied tunnel technology, the distinctive materials and the careful manufacturing, the ORCHID offers an exceptional dynamic range and frequency response. The ORCHIDEE is based on its impeccable preservation of resolution, ambience and definition, its incredible rendering of space and distance and its extremely natural, open and non-fatiguing sound. The anatomy of a flower:
The ORCHID is a slim yet highly robust, 2,9mm diameter, three-core (balanced) interconnect featuring a solid core center conductor designed for maximum sonic performance. (The construction of the cable ensures that the core is unbreakable.) Only the highest quality materials are used in The ORCHID:
- The purest and most carefully processed dense, silver-coated Matched Crystal Oxygen Free Copper conductors
- Lossless and extremely stable insulation materials
- A robust HULLIFLEX ® 5 jack
The cable's built-up triaxial construction comprises a dense 80-core braided shield, a buried 48-core second shield/signal conductor and a solid signal core. The internal insulators are involved in Linear Structured Carbon ®. This has several advantages:
- An improved shielding factor against high frequency interference
- Microscale bridging of conductor surface imperfections
- Additional corrosion-resistant protection of the conductors
