The Quad 3CDT is a dedicated CD transport designed to deliver uncompromising digital performance in its purest form. Created as the natural companion to the Quad 3, this new model embodies QUAD's philosophy of "the closest possible approach to the original sound."

By focusing solely on the mechanics of disk reading and data integrity, the Quad 3CDT removes unnecessary circuitry for unparalleled accuracy, ensuring every note is reproduced with absolute precision.

Compact design with timeless aesthetics

Housed in a sleek, compact enclosure, the Quad 3CDT perfectly reflects the Quad 3's timeless aesthetic. Combined with the Quad 3's DAC architecture, this transport delivers a listening experience that is as refined as it is faithful.

Accuracy and integrity

At the heart of the Quad 3CDT is a high-precision CD mechanism and a custom CD servo control system for exceptional read accuracy and stability. Optimized laser and servo control minimize errors, jitter, and distortion, while preserving the original CD signal integrity. As a pure transport, it delivers a pristine SPDIF output (24-bit/192kHz) without interference.

Advanced clock and power supply

A temperature-controlled, ultra-low-jitter TCXO crystal oscillator serves as a rock-solid timing reference, with its own low-noise power supply for stable transients and coherent music. Three independent low-noise regulators and a dual-core 32-bit RISC CPU ensure robust error correction and servo precision.

Synergy with Quad 3

While compatible with any high-end digital system, the 3CDT is ideally paired with the Quad 3 DAC for benchmark CD playback. This pairing eliminates noise and distortion for a soundstage full of depth, clarity, and musicality.

Classic design, modern execution

Inspired by QUAD’s heritage, the 3CDT features vibration-resistant shielding and multi-format support (CD/CD-R/RW, FLAC/WAV/WMA/MP3/APE) for durable, silent, and unadulterated fidelity.

The 3CDT has both an optical and a coaxial output and can be used with any amplifier with a built-in DA converter, but is of course designed to be combined with the Quad 3 integrated amplifier and the ES9038Q2M Sabre DAC installed in it.
